Wedding, Jamie & Saskia, Brisbane

When I first met with Jamie & Saskia, I knew we were going to have a whole load of fun on their wedding day. They were a young Christian couple…full of fun, enthusiasm and love for each other. They were married by their pastor at Southside Christian Church in Salisbury, and later headed off to the Runcorn Tavern for a little ‘party time’.

Jamie & Saskia liked the idea of some urban-style photos so that’s what I gave them. I love the architecture that we had to work with in the next few photos. It’s hard to beat sandstone pillars and archways to add some interest to bridal photos!

You’ve probably noticed that we don’t like stale, traditional, posed wedding photography. We prefer to capture people in a way that looks natural and relaxed. The following shot of the boys is a good example of that. I think it really captured the laid back, easy going nature of them. Rather than lining them all up in a row, we mixed it up a bit, and got them to interact with each other. The end result is a much more interesting, engaging photo.

Wedding, Matthew & Michelle, Gold Coast

Matthew & Michelle chose the Aztec-themed Mantra Sun City in Surfers Paradise for their ceremony and reception. Sun City was an awesome location for photos, with a very cool mexican style, sandstone walls and an arcade room. An arcade room? Yep!! You’ll see what I mean further down in this post. Here’s some photos from the day.

Here’s a couple of pics from the arcade room at Sun City. Matthew & Michelle didn’t want boring old traditional wedding photos, so a few shots on the machines seemed like a great idea.

Wedding, John & Alexandra, Sydney

When I received an enquiry from John & Alexandra I was totally excited because I LOVE SYDNEY!!! It’s a spectacular city… a photographer’s dream, with some amazing architecture and other interesting elements to photograph. I flew down there at the crack of dawn to give myself loads of time to prepare for our shoot, also to have a wander around The Rocks and Sydney Harbour to grab a bunch of photos for my own enjoyment. I’ll do a separate post when I get a chance, and show you a few of my favourite personal shots from that morning. I was stoked with the results!!

John & Alexandra chose to have their wedding ceremony at Dawes Point Reserve, a gorgeous little park right beside the Sydney Harbour bridge with their reception at Miller’s Point House in the The Rocks area. The day was fantastic, we had a great location for our shoot, I worked my butt off, got some great photos, flew home that night, and had loads of fun along the way. That’s what I called a successful day!!!

Wedding, Dan & Sue at O’Reilly’s, Canungra

Dan & Sue chose a country theme for their wedding, and I must say, they couldn’t have picked a better location than Canungra, which is a small township nestled in the foothills of the Lamington National Park. After spending an hour with Dan & the boys at the Canungra Hotel, I cruised over to Sue and the girls, who were staying at Wallaby Ridge Retreat at Wonglepong. Yes, I did just write the word ‘Wonglepong’. For those of you reading this blog from abroad, you may not realise that Australia has some quite unique names for our towns. How about Humpybong, Boing Boing, Come by chance, Innaloo, and Tom Ugly…all genuine names of Australian towns. I kid you not, look them up in Google if you don’t believe me.

Anyway, back to the story. After all the preparations, Dan & Sue headed for O’Reilly’s Vineyard for their ceremony and reception. It was a great day, Dan & Sue were totally into each other, and we captured some great moments all along the way.

Wedding, Brendan & Hannah, Novotel - Sunshine Coast

Brendan & Hannah organised their wedding from Jamaica, and they did an awesome job of it!! They are originally from Australia, but are now based overseas, as Brendan is an international sports player. They decided on the Novotel Twin Waters as a great location for their ceremony, with Lily’s restaurant on the lagoon for their reception venue.

Here’s a few pics….

Nothing quite puts the icing on the cake more than cute little flowergirls in cute little dresses, and the flowergirls at this wedding were certainly no exception.

Here’s Hannah’s mum giving the bridesmaids a lesson in how to hold their bouquets. That looks like pretty good bouquet-technique to me!

The ceremony was held beside the lake, underneath a couple of palm trees. What a gorgeous location!

The bridesmaids were clearly enjoying themselves. I have no idea what they were laughing at. I hope they weren’t laughing at me!

I love this photo of Hannah. Late afternoon sun and a bed of yellow flowers…beautiful.

Brendan and Hannah were extremely relaxed and easy to work with. We had a great afternoon taking photos around the grounds of the Novotel.
