Jamie & Saskia liked the idea of some urban-style photos so that’s what I gave them. I love the architecture that we had to work with in the next few photos. It’s hard to beat sandstone pillars and archways to add some interest to bridal photos!

You’ve probably noticed that we don’t like stale, traditional, posed wedding photography. We prefer to capture people in a way that looks natural and relaxed. The following shot of the boys is a good example of that. I think it really captured the laid back, easy going nature of them. Rather than lining them all up in a row, we mixed it up a bit, and got them to interact with each other. The end result is a much more interesting, engaging photo.

Here’s a couple of pics from the arcade room at Sun City. Matthew & Michelle didn’t want boring old traditional wedding photos, so a few shots on the machines seemed like a great idea.

John & Alexandra chose to have their wedding ceremony at Dawes Point Reserve, a gorgeous little park right beside the Sydney Harbour bridge with their reception at Miller’s Point House in the The Rocks area. The day was fantastic, we had a great location for our shoot, I worked my butt off, got some great photos, flew home that night, and had loads of fun along the way. That’s what I called a successful day!!!

Anyway, back to the story. After all the preparations, Dan & Sue headed for O’Reilly’s Vineyard for their ceremony and reception. It was a great day, Dan & Sue were totally into each other, and we captured some great moments all along the way.

Nothing quite puts the icing on the cake more than cute little flowergirls in cute little dresses, and the flowergirls at this wedding were certainly no exception.

Here’s Hannah’s mum giving the bridesmaids a lesson in how to hold their bouquets. That looks like pretty good bouquet-technique to me!

The ceremony was held beside the lake, underneath a couple of palm trees. What a gorgeous location!

That’s Lily’s restaurant you can see in the background of this next shot… a fantastic little reception venue.

The bridesmaids were clearly enjoying themselves. I have no idea what they were laughing at. I hope they weren’t laughing at me!

I love this photo of Hannah. Late afternoon sun and a bed of yellow flowers…beautiful.

Brendan and Hannah were extremely relaxed and easy to work with. We had a great afternoon taking photos around the grounds of the Novotel.

Leah had her hair and makeup done at Mackintosh college at Palm Beach.

Here’s Leah and Daniel just before they headed off to the ceremony location. They look relaxed, but there were definitely a few nerves floating around.

Isn’t this little guy just the cutest! Having a very sincere prayer during the service. And one of my all time favourite things to photograph at a wedding ceremony…a dove release! They always bring plenty of action and reactions to a photo, so if you’re considering using doves, I highly recommend it.

After the ceremony we headed up to Rosser Park at Ashmore and then to Currumbin for a relaxed photo session.

Owen had booked a unit in Surfers Paradise where he and the boys were planning on getting ready. When I arrived I found a very familiar sight… boys, beer, and slightly nervous groom-to-be. There was plenty of jokes and laughter and a generally light-hearted feel to the day…

After I’d finished with the boys I headed over to the Royal Pines Resort, where Laura and the girls were having their hair and makeup done in the salon downstairs. I was greeted by no less than 4 hair & makeup artists busily at work with hair rollers, hair spray, lip gloss, mascara pencils and, of course, champagne glasses. We then went upstairs to the room to complete the preparations…

Their ceremony was held at the Sofitel in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, in an outdoor area on the 3rd floor. Afterwards, we spent an hour or so cruising around in the Broadbeach mall taking cool photos. Here’s a couple of favs…

Brandie had a beautiful dress…

This delightful little flower girl was so tired that she fell asleep in Brandie’s hands whilst having her hair done. Too cute!

Before the ceremony, Brad & Fiona had their preparations in separate rooms at Jupiters Casino, which was also the venue for their reception…

The ceremony was fantastic. Did I mention that Froggy Beach is a great spot for a beach wedding!? I love how this petal-throwing shot turned out.

After the ceremony, we found some beautiful light and a great location on the hill overlooking the beach.

Here’s Sarah in her trendy dressing gown, about to take on the task of finding a way into her dress.

I spent some time with the guys at a local skate park in Nambour. What a fantastic location for some stylish, urban photography. I really love using graffiti as a background with some muted colour processing.

After the ceremony, it was time to get a little creative. Brendan & Sarah wanted a bit of an urban look to their photos, so we found some great locations at Mooloolaba…

I love that backdrop.

You wouldn’t normally think that a Hog’s Breath Cafe sign would be a great background for a wedding photo, but look at those colours!!! One of my favourites from the day.

Another fav. Right on sunset with a video light. Mooloolaba sure did offer us some variety for out location shoot.

Brendan & Sarah decided to break tradition a bit, and have a donut cake. Makes you hungry just looking at it doesn’t it?
